Salamanca had never seen anything like the night in 2011 when Avenida beat Fenerbahçe to lift the EuroLeague Women trophy, a title no Spanish women's club had held before and the only one the team has managed to add to a domestic collection already stacked with league and cup wins. The European Super Cup followed the same year, giving the club a double it has not repeated since.

At home the record reads differently: eight Liga Femenina Endesa titles between 2006 and 2022, ten Copa de la Reina wins and nine Supercopa de España triumphs, a run broken up by seasons in which Valencia Basket got the better of them, including finals lost in 2021 and 2024. That rivalry with Valencia has become the closest thing the club has to a measuring stick, since Salamanca itself offers no local derby — the city's only other senior club, CB Tormes, merged into Avenida in 2024.

The team plays as Perfumerías Avenida, a name carried since 2002 and due to change again to CB Meins Avenida, part of a longer chain of identities stretching back through CB Halcón Viajes to the club's first years. Guard Silvia Domínguez became closely enough tied to the team that the arena itself, officially the Pabellón Municipal de Würzburg, is also known by her name. More recent squads have run through American forwards Katie Lou Samuelson and Bella Alarie, part of a roster that has regularly drawn on players and coaches passing through European women's basketball's top tier.

Before any of the trophies, before the blue and white colours settled and the nickname "The Girls of Avenida" stuck, there was a university sports group in Salamanca in 1988 called Agrupación Deportiva Universidad de Salamanca — the starting point from which the club built everything that came after.
