Cádiz La Seu Women

The dressing room at Palau d'Esports de La Seu has grown used to lifting the Catalan title in front of its own crowd, and few sides in the region have matched that run. Promotion came in 2006-07, when the team won the Liga Femenina 2 and stepped up to what is now Liga Femenina Endesa, the top tier of Spanish women's basketball. Staying there, season after season, from a venue holding 2,000 people, has mattered more to the club than any single trophy. The Copa de la Reina has been trickier: a run to the semi-finals in 2018-19 remains the closest it has come, and the cup itself has never been won. Continental competition has followed the domestic form, with appearances in the EuroCup Women testing the squad against sides from bigger cities and bigger budgets. At home, the supporters travel under the banner of the GAS, the Grup d'Animació del Sedis Bàsquet, and their noise at the Palau has become part of how visiting teams describe the place. Blue and white on the away end, and a rivalry with the bigger Catalan clubs from Barcelona and Girona that comes with playing so regularly at the top of the table: for a team from a town this size, holding its own against them each season is the contest that matters most.
