Liga Femenina Women (Spain) 2026/27

The Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, currently known as Liga Femenina Endesa due to sponsorship by the electricity company, serves as the apex of the Spanish basketball pyramid. Founded in 1964 by the Spanish Basketball Federation, it remains the top-tier professional women's league in the country.

The competition operates through a double round-robin regular season format. Each of the 16 teams plays every opponent twice, both home and away, resulting in a 30-match schedule for every side. This structure ensures a comprehensive assessment of form before the decisive phase begins. Following the regular season, the top eight teams advance to the playoffs. These knockout stages are conducted as best-of-three series across the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final.

The stakes involve promotion and relegation directly affecting the second tier, known as the Liga Femenina Challenge. The bottom two teams in the standings are relegated. Conversely, the champion of the second tier gains direct promotion to the top flight. Teams finishing between second and ninth place in the lower division compete in a playoff tournament to determine the second promoted team.

Historically, the league has seen dominance from specific clubs. Three entities hold the record for the most titles with eight championships each: CB Godella-Pool Getafe, Ros Casares Valencia (now Valencia Basket), and Perfumerías Avenida (now CB Avenida). Valencia Basket is the current reigning champion, having secured the 2023-24 title.

The league is distinct from the Copa de la Reina, which is a separate mid-season knockout cup featuring a Final Eight format. The Liga Femenina determines its champion through the cumulative regular season and playoff structure rather than a single-tournament finale. Individual excellence is also recognised, with Amaya Valdemoro holding the single-game scoring record with 49 points.
