The WiZink Center holds 15,000 for basketball, but did once: in 2025 they drew 13,481 spectators, a Spanish women's basketball attendance record. Sharing the arena with the men's team ties the two sides together in name, if in little else — the women play under the same blue, indigo and white, though on court they lean into black, which is where "Women in Black" comes from.

The senior team traces back to 1992, though the club had already set up a youth academy in 1989, three years earlier, building the pipeline before it fielded a first team. That is a full generation after the men's side, founded in 1948 at the Instituto Ramiro de Maeztu, the school that still gives the men their own nickname, "Los del Ramiro."

Trophies have stayed out of reach in the Liga Femenina, the Copa de la Reina and European competition. The closest the club has come was in 2024, when it reached the Copa de la Reina semi-finals for the first time. It has also tested itself in the EuroCup Women, most recently in the 2022/23 season, without turning continental experience into silverware.

The current squad draws on players such as Argentine forward Juana Camilión. Estudiantes remain in the Liga Femenina and the EuroCup Women, still playing in front of the same 15,000-seat bowl in Madrid.
