About

The EuroCup Women serves as the second-tier women's club basketball competition in Europe, organized by FIBA Europe. Founded in 2002, it succeeded the Ronchetti Cup, which ran from 1972 to 2002. The tournament sits directly below the EuroLeague Women in the European hierarchy, offering a distinct structure that appeals to clubs with smaller budgets.

In the 2024–25 season, 48 teams participated in the regular season. These squads were divided into 12 groups of four and played a double round-robin format within their respective groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, advanced to the knockout stage. Additionally, teams eliminated from the EuroLeague Women playoffs entered the EuroCup knockout bracket. This stage featured home-and-away two-legged ties, culminating in a two-legged final.

Dynamo Moscow stands out as the most successful club with three titles won in 2007, 2013, and 2014. The current reigning champion is London Lions, who secured the 2023–24 title. Notable achievements include Dynamo Moscow's perfect 16–0 season in 2006–07 and London Lions' 14–0 start in 2023–24. Winning the EuroCup Women does not guarantee automatic promotion to the EuroLeague Women; victors must qualify via domestic performance instead.

The competition is distinct from the EuroLeague Women in prestige, budget, and format. It offers a more cost-effective regionalized structure compared to the top-tier event. Teams such as Angers Women, Athinaikos Women, BCF Elfic Fribourg Women, Benfica Lisbon Women, Beroe Stara Zagora Women, and Beşiktaş Women compete in this season's edition.
