Maccabi Ashdod Women

Abby Meyers joined Maccabi Bnot Ashdod in 2024 and was named most valuable player of the Israeli Premier League at the end of her first season. The same season, 2024–25, the club won the league, the State Cup and the Winner Cup, the Israeli League Cup. It was the first time Ashdod had taken all three in one year.

The club had been winning for a long time before that. Ashdod, founded in 1974, took the Winner Cup in 2010 and the State Cup and league title in 2012. In 2014–15 they reached the semi-finals of the EuroCup Women, their furthest run in Europe.

The 2013–14 season was an odd one. A financial partnership with the football club M.S. Ashdod turned the team yellow and red for a time. For a while it played as M.S. Bnot Ashdod. It won the league in 2014 under that name, and in March 2015 it went back to the old name and the yellow and blue.

Since then the fiercest opposition has come from Hapoel Lev Jerusalem, whom Ashdod meet in the playoffs when the stakes are highest.

Money has also brought imports from the WNBA. In 2022–23 Liz Cambage, Natisha Hiedeman, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Kalani Brown all played for the club in the same season. That was two seasons before Meyers arrived.

Home games are played at the HaKiriya Arena, which holds 2,200 people. The club's nickname, Bnot Ashdod, means "Daughters of Ashdod".
