Student, the university women's basketball club founded in 1957, plays in the city's Duvanište district.

For most of its history the trophy cabinet held a single item: the Milan Ciga Vasojević Cup, won in 1993 and lost in the final a year later. Then came 2025–26, when Student finished the Serbian league as runners-up, beaten 3–0 in the final series, and reached the FIBA EuroCup Women for the first time in 44 years after eliminating CSU Cluj-Napoca of Romania in qualifying. Drawn in a group with Namur Capitale, CB Jairis and AZS UMCS Lublin, the club picked up its first EuroCup win, 80–77 away at Namur.

Aleksandar Jovanović coached both campaigns at once, his third season in charge, taking the team from a domestic final to a European group stage in the same year.

The final that decided the league was against Crvena Zvezda, the rival Student now measures itself against above Partizan and Spartak Subotica.
