The 2022 Turkish Cup final ended 71-58 to Mersin, and the beaten side was Fenerbahçe. The Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası followed the same year, 84-78 against the same opponent. In Mersin the fixture is called the Akdeniz Derbisi, the Mediterranean Derby.

The club began in 2015 as Çukurova Basketbol and reached the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League (KBSL) for 2017–18. In 2022–23 it reached the EuroLeague Women Final Four, and in 2024–25 it went one step further and played the final. The Turkish Cup did: in 2025 Mersin beat Emlak Konut 85-64 for its second.

The roster has carried names from the WNBA, among them Chelsea Gray, Diamond DeShields and DeWanna Bonner. Kennedy Burke took Turkish citizenship and plays as Beren. Alongside them the club has given minutes to young Turkish players such as Ayşenaz Harma and Eslem Güler.

In April 2024 the club dropped its navy blue and moved to black and orange with white accents, in memory of the victims of the 2023 earthquakes. Its name changed several times, from ÇBK Mersin to ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin and then ÇBK Mersin Yenişehir Belediyesi, before settling back on the short form. Supporters know the team as Mersin Potanın Perileri, Mersin's Basket Fairies.

Home games are played at the Servet Tazegül Arena, which holds 7,500.
