Bellona Kayseri Women

Kadir Has Spor Salonu holds 7,200 people, and Kayseri's women's basketball side has no one to share the city with. There is no local derby to fill it. The club is the only professional women's team in town.

The team began in 1986 as TED Kayseri Koleji, and kept that identity for 22 years. After 2008 the name changed with almost every sponsor or institution that took it on: Şekerspor, then the municipal water authority KASKİ, then Abdullah Gül University, then Melikgazi. In 2017 a sponsorship deal with Boyak Holding's Bellona brand gave it its current name. The colours, yellow and red, stayed through all of it, and so did the nickname, the Yellow-Reds.

The team reached the EuroCup Women final in 2012 and again in 2013. In 2015 it reached the EuroLeague Women final, with WNBA players Lindsay Whalen and Tanisha Wright in the side. The same season it finished second in the Turkish Super League. Another EuroCup final followed in 2017, and the Turkish Cup final the same year.

Not everyone came from abroad. Esra Ural Topuz played for the club from 2007 to 2016, through four different names, and went to the 2016 Olympics with Turkey. Pınar Demirok came up through the youth system and reached the national team.

Across those years, from 2012 to 2017, the club played in five finals, three of them in the EuroCup.
