The Kadınlar Basketbol Süper Ligi (KBSL), officially the Women's Basketball Super League, operates as the premier tier of professional women’s basketball in Turkey. Organized by the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF), it sits at the apex of the national pyramid, directly above the second-tier Türkiye Kadınlar Basketbol Ligi (TKBL). The competition was established in 1980 for the 1980–81 season, succeeding the Türkiye Kadınlar Basketbol Şampiyonası.
Participation fluctuates between 14 and 15 teams each season due to withdrawals and adjustments. The regular campaign employs a double round-robin format, requiring every side to encounter opponents twice, once at home and once away. Performance in this phase determines progression to the postseason. The top eight clubs advance to the playoffs, which utilize best-of-three series for the quarterfinals and semifinals stages.
The championship decider has seen structural shifts over time. While traditionally contested as a best-of-five series, recent iterations, including the 2024–25 campaign, have adopted a best-of-three format. Fenerbahçe currently holds the title following their victory over ÇBK Mersin. Historically, Fenerbahçe remains the dominant force, securing twenty titles, including a run of seven consecutive victories from the 2018–19 season through to 2024–25. Galatasaray follows as the second-most successful entity with thirteen championships.
Links to the lower division operate via promotion and relegation. Typically, the bottom two or three teams in the KBSL drop to the TKBL, while the league champion of the second tier, and occasionally a playoff victor depending on annual regulations, ascends to the top flight. European representation follows a distinct path compared to the men’s game; the KBSL champion qualifies for the EuroLeague Women, while the runner-up frequently enters the EuroCup Women. The league has also undergone various sponsorship-driven name changes, transitioning through identities such as the Bilyoner.com Kadınlar Basketbol Süper Ligi and the ING Kadınlar Basketbol Süper Ligi.
