About

The TKBL Women serves as the second tier of the Turkish basketball pyramid, operating below the top-flight Kadınlar Basketbol Süper Ligi. Following a restructuring in 2015, the former top-level designation was adopted by the premier division, leaving this competition to host the nation's rising talent. The league acts as a vital feeder system, with promotion to the Super League available to the regular season champion and the winner of a playoff contesting teams ranked second through ninth.

During the 2025–26 campaign, the first tier features eleven squads competing in a double round-robin format. In contrast, this second-tier division currently involves eight clubs, including Adana Nova Women, Bodrum Women, Burhaniye Women, Bursa Uludağ Women, Edirne Women, and Emlak Konut Gelisim 2 Women. The structure ensures that competitive balance is maintained through a promotion and relegation mechanism that sends the bottom teams back to the lower levels.

Historically, the top division has been dominated by Fenerbahçe, who have secured twenty titles, including a seven-year streak from 2018–19 to 2024–25. Galatasaray follows as the second-most successful entity with thirteen championships, having also held the record for nine consecutive titles between 1990–91 and 1997–98. While the premier league implemented its current playoff system in the 1993–94 season, featuring best-of-three quarterfinals and best-of-five finals, this tier focuses on providing a pathway for those seeking to advance. The competition remains under the governance of the Turkish Basketball Federation, ensuring standardized regulations across both levels.
