The team plays at the DSİ Etlik Spor Salonu, a hall with 1,021 seats. The club moved to Ankara in 2017, having previously been based in Adana.

The club's nickname is the Gazelles of Basketball, and the colours are navy blue, red and white. In 2001 it won the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League and reached the final of the Ronchetti Cup, a European competition. The season ended with one trophy at home and none abroad.

In 2002 BOTAŞ won the Turkish Cup and the Turkish President's Cup. The Ronchetti final of 2001 remains the club's furthest run in Europe.

It was set up in 1984 by BOTAŞ, the state-owned petroleum pipeline company, which put its name on the shirts and paid for the team.
