Ormanspor Women

The M. Sait Zarifoğlu Spor Salonu in Ankara holds 2,000 people. The green on the shirts comes from the same place as the name: Orman, forest, a nod to the club's original sponsor, the General Directorate of Forestry.

OGM Ormanspor's women's basketball side had one season that changed how the club is remembered. In 2016–17 it beat Çukurova Basketbol in the final to take the Turkish Women's Basketball League title, then added the Federation Cup in the same campaign. Captain Nilay Kartaltepe led a squad that included Esra Ural Topuz and Damla Gezgin under head coach Furkan Sağlık. The league win opened the door to Europe, and Ormanspor later played in the FIBA EuroCup Women in 2021–22 and again the following season.

The club did not stay at the top. Relegation followed in 2020–21, the team finishing with six wins from 27 games, though it had already shown it could climb back once: promotion to the Super League came in 2018–19 through the play-offs. In Ankara itself, matches against BOTAŞ Spor, Çankaya Üniversitesi and Türk Telekom are treated differently from the rest of the calendar, grouped under the label Başkent Derbisi, the capital derby.

Basketball is only one branch of a club that goes back to 1971, founded under the forestry directorate's name and still carrying it in OGM Ormanspor.
