Derthona Basket Women

The team now called Derthona spent its first 37 years as BC Castelnuovo Scrivia, founded in 1986. The Tortona name arrived in 2023 through a partnership with Derthona Basket. That organisation had been affiliated to the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) since 1958. Its men's section, founded in 1955, was dissolved in 1962 and refounded in 1965.

As Autosped Castelnuovo Scrivia, it won the Coppa Italia in Serie A2 in 2022–23. In 2023–24 it played in Serie A1 for the first time. A year later, in its second season at that level, it reached the Coppa Italia final and lost to Famila Wuber Schio.

The academy is older than the name. Under the Castelnuovo Scrivia banner it won the Italian Under-16 3x3 championship in 2019. Lisa Bassi is among the players it has produced.

The derbies are with Logiman Broni and with Novipiù Casale, from Casale Monferrato in the Alessandria province, the same province as Tortona.
