«Panthers»
The Palestra Comunale in Costa Masnaga is a municipal gymnasium rather than an arena built for a club. It sits on Via Verdi, in a town whose name the club itself carries, and there is no getting away from the fact that a team from a place this size plays where the town plays.
Basket Costa was founded in 1972, and the record since then reads as a story of going up, staying up as long as it can, then going back and doing it again. This year the Panthers won the Serie A2 Femminile play-off final to earn a third promotion to the top flight, for the 2026-27 season.
The one cup sitting alongside those promotions is the Coppa Italia di Serie A2, won in 2016-17. Off the court, CONI recognised the club with the Stella di Bronzo al Merito Sportivo in November 2023.
What keeps the name attached to the town is the same gymnasium on Via Verdi where the club has measured its rises and falls since 1972.
