When Panathinaikos withdrew from the playoffs in 2026, the title went to Athinaikos anyway.

That side, built around Greek internationals such as Dimitra Kalentzou and reinforced by Ruth Riley and Candice Wiggins, closed the run by beating its way to the 2010 EuroCup Women final and winning it — the first European trophy any Greek women's basketball club had taken. The four domestic doubles that followed, cup and league together, were the return on that squad rather than a separate achievement.

The club itself is the women's section of a multi-sport institution founded in 1917, moved out to Výronas in 1952 after folding in A.E. Neas Elvetias, and still plays there in the 'D. Kaltsas' Indoor Arena, a hall that seats 320 on permanent and folding chairs combined.
