Kibirkštis have not lost a Lithuanian women's championship since 2021, taking five straight titles through 2025 and building the run on top of four consecutive Karalienės taurė wins. That current run sits on top of an older one: the club, under various names, took the Baltic Women's Basketball League so often between the mid-1990s and 2014 that a season without the trophy was the exception rather than the rule.

The name itself has not stayed put. The club traces back to 1961, but by the 1990s it had become Lietuvos Telekomas, then TEO, before the whole operation moved to Kaunas as VIČI-Aistės. Vilnius was left without its own team under the old name until 2011, when Kibirkštis was revived there from scratch.

The best European run came earlier than the current domestic streak: back-to-back Final Four appearances in the EuroLeague Women in 2004–05 and 2005–06, both ending in fourth place after bronze-medal defeats. A more modest bronze followed in the European Women's Basketball League in 2022.

Domestically, the games that matter most are against Klaipėdos Neptūnas-Amberton, the opponent Kibirkštis have met in final after final in recent years, while meetings with Kauno Žalgiris carry their own weight as a contest between the country's two largest cities.

No player is more tied to the club's peak than Lina Pikčiūtė, named the best Lithuanian female player in 2013 as the team was building toward its return to the top of the domestic game.
