Stadium
Coliseo Municipal Antonio Azurmendy Riveros
Valdivia, Chile
The wooden floor stretches the length of the hall, marked with the white lines of a basketball court.
The building has lived through a great deal. When it opened it was to host the Extraordinary Men's World Basketball Championship, a tournament that put the town on the map for a few weeks before the visitors left. It was renamed in 1971 after Antonio Azurmendy Riveros, who had been mayor.
Things came to a head in 2001 when the venue was renovated for the FIBA South American Championship. The address is Av Pedro Montt 465, and the building is still standing.
