Palace of Sports
Gomel, Belarus
The Gomel Ice Palace of Sports is a compact venue in the Central District of Gomel, Belarus. It sits on Mazurova Street, 110.
The arena opened in the spring of 2000 after construction that began two years earlier, and it has held that name ever since. The facility hosts the professional ice hockey club HC Gomel, which plays in the Belarusian Extraleague, and it also serves figure skating and short track. The official number of spectators is 2,760, though the club’s own site and the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation sometimes round it down to 2,700 or split the count between a main arena and a minor one.
The surface inside is ice, which is what this place is for. It is not the only building in Gomel, but it is the only one with an ice rink of this size.
