Kyiv already had a basketball club with a claim on the city. Kyiv-Basket has now been the other side of that fixture in two separate lives.

The first began in 1992, when the politician and businessman Mykhailo Brodskyy founded the club as Maccabi-Dandy. It was renamed Kyiv-Basket in 1993 and Dandy-Basket in 1996.

The name came back in 2017 with new colours, yellow and black, and a new nickname, The Bees. The refounding came with a women's team, and that team wasted no time. It won the Ukrainian Women's SuperLeague in 2017–18 and again in 2019–20, and it has finished as runner-up in 2018–19, 2020–21 and 2023–24.

They collected SuperLeague silver in 2018–19 and 2019–20, then bronze in 2020–21 and 2023–24, and silver again in 2024–25. The Ukrainian Cup arrived in 2025–26, the first time the men had won it, and the final was one-sided: 82–64 against Prykarpattia-Hoverla.
