It was the first major football venue in the city, opening in 1944, long before the concrete bowl of Albertão was built. It was named after Lindolfo Monteiro, a former mayor, and has not changed its title since. The pitch is natural grass, a surface that has seen both triumph and disrepair. It hosted the 1973 state championship final and was the base for Ríver Atlético Clube and Fluminense Esporte Clube when they needed a local option for the Campeonato Piauiense or the Copa do Brasil.

The structural issues were severe enough to halt play. Then came the renovation, overseen by the Teresina Municipal Secretariat of Sport and Leisure. The works replaced the turf entirely and installed a new automated irrigation system, fixing the drainage that had failed for years. The stadium reopened for official matches in early 2026.

There is no clarity on how many people the stands hold. The official architectural capacity is cited as 12,760, while older records suggest the number was half that, and the fire department once capped it at 2,500. The renovation costs are not recorded. The stadium sits on Rua João Cabral, some sources say in the North Zone, others in the Centro Sul, and the boundary between the two is not clear.
