Clube Atlético Piauiense started out as a youth project in Teresina, built around age-group football before anyone in Piauí talked about a senior side. That came later, in 2024, when the club professionalised its men's team; the founding itself dates to November 14, 2019.

The U20 side plays in the Copa do Brasil Sub-20 and the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, reaching the round of 16 in the latter in 2026. It trains under a badge that has become familiar on the state's youth podiums: the Sub-17 side took the Campeonato Piauiense in 2024, 2025 and 2026 running, and the Sub-20 group added its own title in 2025. The club calls itself Auriverde, for the green and white it wears, and shares Teresina's football calendar with Piauí Esporte Clube, its main rival in what locals simply call the grande clássico.

The senior sections have kept pace. The women's team won the Série A3 in 2025, so the badge now travels between age groups and genders rather than sitting with one first team.

Among those who came through this pipeline, Caio Monteiro stands out, having arrived from Vasco da Gama.
