Estadio Luis Conde
Buenos Aires, Argentina
The floor is parquet, marked for basketball and volleyball, and the stands are close to the action, separated only by a low barrier.
The building has lived through a significant rebuild. Work finished in early 2023, bringing a new lighting system and central air conditioning to the space. The club has kept the court busy since. Boca Juniors basketball team play their games here, as does their volleyball side, both competing in their respective top domestic leagues. The venue has also hosted finals for these competitions, and once served as a temporary home for another club’s basketball team when their own ground was unavailable.
The capacity is a matter of debate, with figures ranging from 1,500 to 2,400, but the stands look full when a game is on. The atmosphere is closer than a football stadium could ever be, but it has its own energy. You can hear the squeak of boots on the wooden floor and the shouts of the players without looking up. It is not a place built for spectacle, but for the game itself. The blue paint is bright under the new lights, and the court is clean and clear of any distractions.
