Boca Juniors has a basketball section that was set up on 3 April 1929 by Santiago Pedro Sana, joining the Argentine basketball federation the following year, and through the amateur decades it collected 22 titles, among them the 1963 Argentine club championship.
Boca returned to the Liga Nacional de Básquet in 1990, and the years between 2002 and 2007 are still spoken of as the Golden Era: eleven titles in five seasons, including three league championships, five straight Copa Argentina wins and three South American club titles. Financial trouble that began in 2009 undid most of that, and by 2016-17 the club was fighting to stay in the top flight rather than to win it.
The rebuild produced a three-peat, with the Liga Nacional retained in 2023-24 against Instituto de Córdoba and again in 2024-25.
Games are played at Estadio Luis Conde , known as La Bombonerita, which holds 2,000 people.
