Ferro

Ferro's last Liga Nacional de Básquet title came in 1989. Between 1980 and 1989 the green side of Buenos Aires won three national league titles, three South American Club Champions' Cups, the 1981 Argentine club championship and the 1980 Torneo Metropolitano. In 1986 it also reached the final of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup and finished runner-up.

The man behind those years was coach León Najnudel , working with president Santiago Leyden. Their team was built around Argentine players such as Miguel Cortijo, Luis Oroño and Diego Maggi, with the American George Berry brought in from abroad. It had been founded in 1933 inside a sports club that railway workers started in 1904, and the "Western Express" nickname still points back to that.

Ferro's rival in those years was Obras Sanitarias. The two met in the finals of the South American championship, and the rivalry never got a name of its own, unlike the football "Clásico del Oeste" against Vélez Sársfield. When the national league started, Atenas de Córdoba became the opponent to beat.

The Gimnasio Héctor Etchart holds 3,500 people. The kit is green, the shade once called Nile green, and it gave the club the nicknames El Verde and Verdolaga.

He made his debut in 1996, seven years after the last title.
