Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia

Gabriel Cocha was the most valuable player of the 2005–06 Liga Nacional de Básquet final, and his number 8 shirt has been retired since. Quimsa was the opponent again when the second came, in 2026. Gimnasia won the final 4–2, and Sebastián Carrasco was named MVP.

The 20 years between the two finals were not spent waiting. The club, which dates from 1919, came up to the top flight in 1989 and has not gone down since. Along the way there were near misses on the continental stage: runner-up in the Liga Sudamericana de Clubes in 2001, beaten by Estudiantes de Olavarría, third in 2002, and runner-up again in 2003, this time to Delfines de Miranda. A Copa Argentina final in 2014 also ended in defeat.

Smaller trophies came in between. Gimnasia won the Torneo Súper 4 Circus in 2015, when the team played under the name Gimnasia Indalo, a sponsor's label it carried from 2011 to 2016. The Torneo Súper 20 followed in 2023.

Home is the Estadio Socios Fundadores, which holds about 2,300 people. Locals call it "La Bombonerita de la Patagonia". On the other side of the Chubut province sits Deportivo Madryn, and the meetings between the two are known as the Clásico del Sur.

No one has played more games for the green shirt than Pablo Moldú. The club retired his number 7.
