The Gimnasio Municipal de Castro sits on Ramón Freire street in Castro. The building has stood for decades — long enough for its former name, the Gimnasio Fiscal de Castro, to slip quietly into older records and then be retired. The current moniker took hold after a renovation completed in August 2018, a project that finally sealed the roof against the persistent leaks and installed new seating from Butacas DVP, so the interior looked less like a damp basement and more like a proper hall. The roof does not always hold, mind you; an incident in June 2026 involved two teenagers arrested for stealing equipment from the gymnasium, though the motive was never made clear.

It is a modest place. The capacity is listed as 1,300 by several basketball databases, although one Wikipedia article on the 2024 Chilean Basketball League season puts it at 1,500.
