Jotunhallen
Sandefjord, Norway
Jotunhallen in Sandefjord is a working hall. The name comes from the paint company Jotun, which paid for a quarter of the build when the doors opened in 1963. The arena sits in the Bugårdsparken district at Sportsveien 25.
The space belongs to Sandefjord TIF, specifically the handball team Sandefjord Håndball. That work included new screens and cables. The capacity is small, holding just 1,000 people.
Change arrived in earnest in 2016. Niamo Arkitektur designed a new block with changing rooms and a cafeteria. The old structure was cleared by 2025. It became courts for sand volleyball and sand handball. The city used the land differently when the building moved.
If you stand outside in the Bugårdsparken, you see the sand courts while the players inside are preparing for a match.
