Sandefjord TIF beat Nørbo 36:34 in the REMA 1000-ligaen on Sunday afternoon. The result upended expectations for the early-season clash between two sides with identical points totals. Home players held their nerve in the final minutes to secure the victory.
Sandefjord TIF sit third in the table after two games, both won. Nørbo occupy fourth place following three matches — two victories and a draw. The home side entered with momentum from their 39:36 win over Bergsøya on September 13.
Nørbo carried a slight edge in games played but had shown vulnerability in recent outings. Their 23:31 defeat to Runar on September 13 suggested defensive frailty. The away side had bounced back with a 30:25 victory over Bergsøya the following week.
The match remained tight throughout, with neither side able to establish a commanding lead. Sandefjord TIF found their rhythm in the second half, pulling away in the closing stages. The final margin of two goals reflected the competitive nature of the contest.
Our prediction backed the away win at 72 per cent confidence. The forecast proved wrong — Sandefjord TIF's home advantage and defensive organisation in key moments shifted the balance. Nørbo's recent away struggles against top-six opposition told a story that played out on the court.
The result leaves Sandefjord TIF with an unbeaten start and four points from two matches. Nørbo remain level on points but trail by one game played. The away side will need to respond quickly to avoid falling further behind in the standings.
