Canberra, Australia
Formerly: National Athletics Stadium, Bruce Stadium
The stadium’s history is visible in the architecture. Originally opened in 1977, it was rebuilt in 1997 to host the football tournament of the Sydney Olympics, a conversion that widened the bowl and increased the capacity.
The venue has long served as a home for Australian sport. The record crowd of 28,753 was set in May 2004 during a Super 12 rugby final between the Brumbies and the Canterbury Crusaders, a figure that has stood for twenty years. The ground also hosted international football, including matches during the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
On match days, the atmosphere is shaped by the open design of the stadium.
