Palasport Giuseppe Taliercio
Mestre, Italy
The Palasport Giuseppe Taliercio is not a place of light and air. The building opened in 1978, but the work had begun the year before, and the name on the door was chosen to honour a man killed by the Red Brigades.
The shape of the arena changed in 2012. Two supplementary rings were added to the upper part of the facility, and seating was increased in the parterre, bringing the total to 3,506. The surface is natural wood parquet, 32 by 19 metres, which is standard for a professional venue.
This is the home of Reyer Venezia Mestre, which plays in the Lega Basket Serie A and the EuroCup, and of Basket Mestre 1958, which uses the venue through a collaboration agreement. Reyer Venezia Mestre have won the Italian championship four times, in 1942, 1943, 2017 and 2019. The highest attendance recorded here was 3,510 spectators, for the second leg of the 2018 FIBA Europe Cup Finals, when Umana Reyer Venezia defeated Sidigas Scandone 81–79.
