Playsport Arena
East Kilbride, United Kingdom
The Playsport Arena opened in 2023. It was part of a £20 million development project led by the Caledonia Gladiators’ owners. It stands on the northern edge of the town, where the Gladiators previously played at the Emirates Arena.
It was designed with expansion in mind, built in two stages with a final capacity of 6,000 seats planned for 2026. Currently, the 1,800-seat configuration feels intimate.
The arena is out for the season when not hosting basketball, but it has already seen its share of action. The highest attendance record of 917 spectators was set during a Scottish women’s basketball game against the Newcastle Eagles.
International matches have taken place here, including Scotland netball games against New Zealand’s Silver Ferns. No concerts have been held yet, though plans exist for future development.
