Roig Arena
Valencia, Spain
Formerly: Valencia Arena, Casal España Arena
Roig Arena stands in the Quatre Carreres district of Valencia. The facade is a double-curved steel frame covered in 8,600 ceramic fins arranged like the scales of an animal.
Inside, the air is different. This is a multi-purpose indoor arena, and the pitch is a professional wooden parquet floor. The space is dominated by a 500 square metre interior videowall, the largest of its kind in Europe, which sits behind the court.
The building replaced the Fonteta de Sant Lluís Pavilion, which had served Valencia Basket Club since 1987. The first basketball match took place on October 3, 2025, against Virtus Bologna in the EuroLeague. Since then, the arena has hosted major fixtures, including a sold-out EuroLeague quarter-final against Panathinaikos. The capacity is 15,600 for basketball, but the setup changes depending on the event.
The building is owned by LICAMPA 1617 S.L., a company controlled by Juan Roig, president of Mercadona. The investment cost is reported as €400 million. Before it was Roig Arena, the venue was known as Valencia Arena and then Casal España Arena during construction. The name changed in November 2022 to recognise Juan Roig's legacy. The opening ceremony was not a sporting event but a tribute concert to Spanish singer Nino Bravo.
