Sala Sporturilor Traian: Stadium in Râmnicu Vâlcea

Sala Sporturilor Traian sits on Bd. Nicolae Bălcescu nr. 24, in the Traian district of Râmnicu Vâlcea. The building opened in 1982 and has kept the same name ever since — no sponsorship changes, no rebranding.

The hall is a single volume with a parquet floor, designed for handball and basketball. It opened with a capacity of just over 3,000, but the space changed shape in the summer of 2020. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) refused approval for the suspended metal stands that had been installed after a 2011 renovation, and they were removed. The number dropped to 2,375.

SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, the local women's handball club (formerly CS Oltchim), plays its home matches here. The arena also holds the annual Trofeul Carpați, an international junior handball tournament, and has hosted major combat sports events — Dynamite Fighting Show 26, for example, brought in fighters including Remy Bonjasky in March 2025 and drew approximately 3,000 people despite the reduced seating.

Outside sport, the hall is known for the Constelații Rock Festival, where Romanian bands such as Cargo have performed.
