In the Liga Națională, the derbies belong to clubs whose basketball sections go back generations; Valcea's does not, and that gap shapes how the Black Wolves are treated in Râmnicu Vâlcea.

CS Vâlcea 1924 dates only to 2022. Three seasons in, it reached third place in the Liga Națională in 2024-25, a finish that put a team barely out of its infancy above clubs with decades of continuous basketball history behind them.

Home games are played at Sala Sporturilor Traian, a hall that seats 2,375. The club has since taken that momentum into the FIBA Europe Cup.

No Divizia A title, no Romanian Cup: the trophy cabinet is still bare.
