Municipal Galati

The club he played for started out in 2000 as CS Phoenix Galați, winning the Liga I second division in 2015 and earning promotion into the Liga Națională. In 2019 the municipality took over its management and the team was rebranded CSM Galați, and a year later the old legal entity folded under debt, with the basketball section carrying on under new affiliation.

The Romanian Cup has never gone to Galați — a quarter-final in 2016–17, another the following season, and a semi-final in 2021–22 mark the closest the club has come. Locally the players are known as Gălățenii — the people of Galați — a name that ties the roster to the city rather than to any one era of the club's several restructurings.
