Corona Brasov Women

For most of its recorded life, Corona Brașov's name belonged to handball, before adding an EHF Challenge Cup that same year. Basketball at Corona is a different, much younger story, and one still being written from the bottom up.

The men's basketball section as it now exists dates to 29 March 2019, when it took over from Sport Club Corona 2010. It spent its early years in Liga I, the second tier, and in 2022–23 it went through the promotion tournament unbeaten, taking the divisional title and, with it, the club's first-ever place in Liga Națională. The step up has not yet produced a trophy: Corona finished fifth in 2024–25 and went out in the Quarter-Finals.

Home games are played at Sala Sporturilor „Dumitru Popescu Colibași”, a hall holding 1,700, in front of a team that wears yellow and navy blue and answers, in league tables, simply to the nickname Corona. In the Liga Națională, the games against CSM CSU Oradea, CSO Voluntari and CSM CSU Sibiu have already taken on the shape of rivalries.

The club has since added a women's volleyball section, formed in 2022 and playing in Divizia A1, so that Corona now fields teams in three sports under one badge. What the basketball team has not managed, in its short time among the elite, is a trophy of its own.
