BCM U Pitesti

The Romanian Cup came in 2011–2012, and it came with a scoreline that settled matters early: a 91–78 win over BC Timișoara. A year later the club beat CSU Asesoft to add the Romanian Supercup. That run also carried it into the group stage of the EuroChallenge Cup.

The name on the trophy has never stayed the same for long. The club has been CSU Pitești, BCM Pitești, BCMUS Argeș Pitești, BCM U Pitești and BCM U FC Argeș Pitești in turn, settling for now as FC Argeș Pitești. Under the BCM U Pitești banner it also reached a League final in 2007, losing out to CSU Asesoft — the same rival it would beat to the Supercup six years later.

Founded in Pitești in 2000, the club took its first league title that same year, before the name changes began. It plays in white and purple, and its supporters call it the Violet Eagles. Lucian Chirof has carried the club's colours longer than almost anyone on its books, a fixture through more than a decade of the various reinventions above. Iulian Orbeanu, another product of the Romanian game who went on to play at EuroBasket 2017.

Since December 2022 the team has played its home games at Pitești Arena, a step up in capacity from the old Trivale Sports Hall. CSU Asesoft remains the name that keeps coming back whenever Pitești basketball is discussed seriously — the final lost in 2007, the Supercup won in 2013.
