Tatabánya’s new indoor hall is in the southeastern quarter of the town. The building is a single, sweeping oval. Its skin is a lattice of steel, and the roofline dips low in the middle before rising again at the ends. To see it before the fences came down and the gravel was laid is to see how it was designed to stand apart from the housing blocks and the old sports hall it replaced.

The ground around the arena is still rough. Piles of dirt and concrete blocks line the perimeter, and large wooden cable spools sit in the yard. This is not a finished place yet, but the structure itself looks complete, a solid presence that will define the local sporting calendar once the events start arriving. It is already the home of MOL Tatabánya KC, taking the place of the old Városi Sportcsarnok. The club has moved into a space that matches their ambitions in the Hungarian Men's Handball League (NB I).

What makes this ground different from a standard multi-purpose hall is the shape of the roof and the way the light falls inside. The parametric design means the roof does not sit flat; it curves over the pitch in a way that suggests a purpose built for high-profile matches. It was ready for the 2027 Women's Handball World Championship long before the tickets go on sale. The venue also includes a separate fencing hall with 20 pistes, a detail that hints at a wider role than just handball, though that is where the focus remains. The high line was picked apart by the attacking play in the opening fixture against Telekom Veszprém, a game that drew 6,000 people to a place that had never seen a crowd like that before.
