CSKA Arena

CSKA Arena opened in April 2015 on the grounds of the former ZIL plant, a site that had been cleared for a development called the Park of Legends. It was designed by the SPEECH bureau, with the work led by Sergey Choban. The complex was originally named the VTB Ice Palace, a title it held until 2018, when the complex was sold to Rosneft and the venue became CSKA Arena. The main hall is used for ice hockey and basketball, but the surfaces are synthetic rinks frozen with ice rather than a traditional pitch, and temporary flooring is laid for other events.

HC CSKA Moscow took up residence here in the 2018/2019 season, having played elsewhere prior to the sale of the complex. Before them, HC Dynamo Moscow used the venue from its opening until 2018. The arena also hosted matches in the 2016 IIHF World Championship and the Channel One Cup. The attendance record for the venue stands at 12,680, set on December 16, 2017, during a Channel One Cup match between Russia and Canada. The record for a KHL match was 10,947, for a game between Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
