Untermainhalle

The hall sits on Dammsfeldstraße and the glass floor is under it, not wood. The shell seats curve around the court, and the standing area is tucked at the far end. The capacity is 2,500.

The building is older than the new floor. It opened in 1970 and the renovation finished in 2003. The architect is not found for the original work, but RitterBauer+Partner Architekten left their mark on the structure. The name changed in August 2016 when the sponsorship with the local savings bank ended. It was the Sparkassenarena before, now it is just the Untermainhalle.

TV Großwallstadt plays here. They are in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga. The last cup match against SC Magdeburg pulled a full house of 2,500 people into the stands. The venue is situated southeast of Frankfurt, but that distance does not show up when you are inside. A player was left flat-footed by the lack of give.

There are concerts sometimes, but the lights are set up for sport.
