Wonju Sports Complex
Wonju, South Korea
Formerly: Wonju Gymnasium
The outdoor stadium, opened in 1980, has seen grass grow for decades, but the focus here is the indoor arena that replaced an old baseball ground. Built between 2009 and 2013 on that former site, the complex is now defined by the presence of the Wonju DB Promy basketball team.
The indoor arena opened on August 10, 2013, quietly replacing the Chiak Gymnasium as the team's home. It is not a massive structure, seating 4,594 spectators, but it has hosted significant moments for the Korean Basketball League. The first playoff game inside these walls took place on March 19, 2015, followed by the first championship final on April 2 of the same year. It has also seen international fixtures, including matches against Thailand and China.
The building has an eco-conscious design, utilising solar power and geothermal energy to run its operations. In September 2025, the venue was renamed 'Wonju DB Promy Arena' to mark the team's 20th anniversary, though the original title 'Wonju Gymnasium' remains in common use. The facility is managed by the Wonju City Facilities Management Corporation, providing a steady backdrop for the team's games.
