About the player
Adilkhan Dobay came through the academy system in his home city, moving from Akademia Ontustik Shymkent into Ordabasy's youth setup before senior football took him elsewhere. His clearest moment on the pitch so far came at youth international level, when he scored the winning goal for Kazakhstan's under-17 side against Wales in a Euro 2019 qualifier. He has since added caps at under-19 and under-21 level without yet breaking into the senior national side.
Since leaving Ordabasy, Dobay's career has moved between several Kazakh clubs on free transfers: Maktaaral, Zhetysu, a spell at Irtysh Pavlodar, and a return to Zhetysu, where he now wears the number 11 shirt. He is primarily deployed as a right-back, making use of his right foot down that side, though he has also featured in midfield roles.
