About the player
Aleksandr Degtev came through Zenit Saint Petersburg's Gazprom Academy, where he was part of the side that won the Youth Football League in 2022. He left the academy in 2023 and signed his first professional contract with PFC Sochi that July, making his Russian Premier League debut the following May. Over his spell at Sochi, spanning both the Premier League and the First League, he made 56 appearances.
On 8 September 2026, Zenit announced they had signed Degtev back from Sochi on a five-year contract. Two days later, Zenit loaned him straight back out, sending him to FC Orenburg for the rest of the 2026/27 season.
Degtev made his Orenburg debut on 12 September 2026, starting in the eighth round of the Premier League away to Dynamo Moscow at the RZD Arena. Orenburg lost 0:1, with Viktor Okishor scoring the only goal in the 90th minute, and Degtev could not keep a clean sheet on his first outing for the club.
At international level, Degtev has represented Russia's under-21 side, making his debut against Uzbekistan U21 in September 2023. He has since featured in further fixtures for the age group, including matches against Colombia U21 and Bahrain U23.
