About the player

Genk gave Alessandro Ciranni his footballing education: he joined the club's academy at the age of seven, in 2003, and stayed for twelve years. He trained with the first team and turned out for the reserve side, KRC Genk II, during the 2015–2016 season, but a senior league appearance for Genk never came. Instead, in January 2016, he went out on loan to MVV Maastricht in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, and made the move permanent that summer on a free transfer.

What followed was a steady tour of the Dutch and Belgian second tiers of attention: Fortuna Sittard, Royal Excel Mouscron, then Zulte Waregem, where he settled longest and made 86 league appearances, scoring three goals. A move to Romania with FC Gloria Buzău in September 2024 took him outside the Benelux for the first time, and he made 27 league appearances there before returning to the Eredivisie in September 2025, signing for Willem II on a free transfer on a contract running to June 2026, with an option for a further season.

He represented Belgium at U19 level, earning four caps in 2014. At Willem II he has featured in the early rounds of the season, with a handful of appearances so far.
