About the player
Callum McGregor came through Celtic's academy from the age of nine, and by the time he made his senior debut in July 2014 he had already spent a season on loan at Notts County, where he scored 14 goals in 41 appearances. McGregor never left Celtic again, working through the ranks to become one of the most decorated players in the club's history.
He has won 11 Scottish Premiership titles, seven Scottish Cups and eight League Cups, and was part of five domestic treble-winning seasons between 2016–17 and 2022–23. In July 2021 he succeeded Scott Brown as club captain, extending his contract in 2018, 2021 and again in 2023, keeping him at Celtic until 2028.
McGregor made his Scotland debut in November 2017 against the Netherlands and went on to earn 63 caps, scoring three goals for his country, one of them at Euro 2020 against Croatia. He also featured at Euro 2024 before stepping back from international football that August to focus on his club career.
