About the player
Elydjah Mendy did not come up through a big academy pipeline. He started out in Pau FC's youth ranks and made his senior debut with the club's reserve side, Pau FC B, clocking up 24 appearances between 2018 and 2021. He even trained with the first team during pre-season in 2020–21.
That move, to FC Libourne in 2021, turned out to be the making of him. Mendy became a key part of back-to-back promotions there, first out of National 3 and into Championnat National 2 in 2023, then up again into the National in 2024.
Dijon FCO picked him up on a free transfer in July 2024, and he repaid that faith with an 2024–25 season in the National where he made 18 league appearances and scored twice. Local media at the time called him "indispensable" and a menace going forward for a centre-back.
Nancy moved for him in August 2025, tying him to a three-year contract, taking the number 21 shirt and making 21 league appearances with 2 goals in his first season. Born to Bissau-Guinean parents, he is eligible for Guinea-Bissau and has featured in squad contexts for them, though he is yet to win his first senior cap.
