Match report
Nancy secured a 2-0 victory over Dunkerque in Ligue 2 at the Stade Marcel Picot on Thursday evening. The hosts moved clear of their visitors in the standings after a match defined by a red card in the first half and two clinical finishes. It was the fourth round of the regular season, and the result leaves Nancy five points outside the automatic promotion places with four games played.
Dunkerque lost their defensive anchor early when Maxence Prévot was sent off in the 30th minute. The substitution of A. Daho followed immediately, but the numerical disadvantage never went away. Nancy took their time to respond, keeping possession and probing, before N. Fernandez broke the deadlock just before the interval with a goal in the 45th minute.
The second half belonged to the home side. B. Bokangu doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, and the game settled into a pattern of control. Dunkerque tried to stay compact but found no answer to the volume of attacks, while Nancy kept knocking on the door. The visitors made several changes in an attempt to freshen the midfield, but the scoreline remained steady.
The statistics tell the story of a one-sided afternoon. Nancy registered 114 attacks compared to 87 from Dunkerque, and created eight big chances while the visitors managed none. The home side had 59 per cent possession and 13 shots on target, though only four found the way to goal. Dunkerque's defensive work was hampered by the red card, and they could only manage two shots on target over the full 90 minutes.
By then, the gap between the two teams in the table had widened. Nancy sit fifth with seven points from four matches, while Dunkerque remain tenth on four points. The result extends Nancy's unbeaten run to eight games across all competitions, and leaves the visitors needing to find consistency if they want to climb away from the bottom half.
