About the player
Hessel de Wit and his twin brother, Tycho, were picked up together in 2017 through the television scouting programme The Scouts , an initiative fronted by Soufiane Touzani.
The breakthrough came in April 2025, when de Wit was named on the Jong AZ bench for a Eerste Divisie fixture against Vitesse. He came on as a 63rd-minute substitute for Nick Twisk and needed only five minutes to make an impact, being set up by Jayden Gierhold in a match that finished 2-2.
Before stepping up permanently, de Wit had already shown he could produce moments at a higher level.
De Wit's first-team debut followed in August 2026, in a 2-0 win over ADO Den Haag in which Ro-Zangelo Daal and Calvin Stengs scored the goals.
