Joseph Brennen Hugill

He arrived from Sunderland in July 2020 after interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, and by the end of his first season he was the academy's second-highest scorer with 16 goals, four of them against Liverpool's under-23s in a single game — only the second United player at any level to manage that feat against that opponent. An FA Youth Cup winner's medal followed with the under-18s in 2021–22, and in January 2023 he was named Premier League 2 Player of the Month after scoring five goals in four games.

None of it translated into a first-team appearance. Instead, Hugill's development continued through a string of loans: Altrincham, Burton Albion, Wigan Athletic, Carlisle United and Barnet, spread across the following three seasons, without a single senior league game for Manchester United itself.

In January 2026 he left permanently, joining Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee. He made an immediate impact, scoring six goals in 14 appearances in his first season at the club. The most significant of them came in May 2026, when a brace against Dundee United helped secure Kilmarnock's place in the Scottish Premiership.
